Discover Your Horse's Health Through Equine Iridology

We all understand that horses have different types of eyes from an honest eye, small piggy eyes to worried eyes. Well, Equine Iridology takes this analysis one step further. The eyes are literally the window to their soul and mirror their health issues.

Equine Iridology is a fascinating way of analysing the coloured part of the iris for fibre changes, discolouration, marks and lines in various colours.

When an organ, muscle or systemis under stress the nerve endings relating to that organ begin to die leaving discolouration within the iris relating to that particular organ. This is due to the eye's relationahip with the brain. As an embryo, the eye develops as part of the brain and then separates. However, the eye remains connected to the brain via the optic nerve as the optic nerve is a projection of brain tissue. Therefore, fibre changes in an organ or any part of the body are projected through to the iris via the brain.

Iridologists then use a grid to correlate markings to specific locations on the body whether organ, intestinal or structural.

Equine Iridology can often be the missing link in a treatment where you are not quite sure why the horse is reacting or moving the way it does. Moreover, it allows you to take preventative measures as tissue degeneration within the body is picked up in the iris, long before it is identified through conventional medicine.

How can Iridology help my horse?

Before buying a new horse: iridology can alert potential owners to past or ongoing health issues so that these can be managed effectively.

Before breeding from a horse: ideally both the Dam and Sire can be assessed for inherited strengths and weaknesses

If a horse is showing behavioural issues: iridology can assess if there is an underlying reason for the behavioural issue

If you have any health concerns over your horse

If your horse's performance drops, for no apparent reason

A general 'MOT' for your horse: can assess if the current feed and mangement regime is suited to your horse

What Iridology can not do

Equine Iridology does not diagnose or confirm specific diseases. There are many diseases that show up the same tissue degeneration within the iris. Marks in the iris can only highlight the area in which there is a problem, and the condition of the tissues (e.g.inflammation, acidity, toxicity, congested lymph and hardening of the arteries) it cannot identify the cause or illness. And finally, as with all equine therapists, iridologists are not intended to substitute medical or veterinary advice or treatment. If in any doubt you should always consult your Veterinary Surgeon beforehand, or if the iridologist so recommends.

Equine Iridology is proving to be a powerful tool in alerting the horse owner of health and training issues a horse may be experiencing. It can alert owners of any deficencies and nutritional imbalances within their feeding regime in order to optimise health, soundness and training. It can alert potential buyers to the history of the horse's health and soundness and display genetic abnormalties which may lead to future health problems. So remember the next time you look into your horse's eye, they may be telling you more than you think.....
